Wearable technology is going mainstream, with around 10 million smart glasses, fitness bands and watches expected to be sold in 2014, according to consulting firm Deloitte. With the launch of Google Glass in the UK this week, public interest in the category has piqued once again, and early adopters are already exploring ways in which a tiny screen that is permanently in line-of-sight will complement the array of screens they already use.

Motorola’s Moto 360 has been officially confirmed by none other than Google at its Google I/O conference. Google announced a selection of smartwatches on stage and revealed they would be available via Google Play. The LG G Watch and Samsung’s Gear Live are on the Play Store right now this second, however, if you’re interested in Motorola’s round display you’ll have to wait a bit as the company said it would arrive “later this summer”.

No specific date has been outlined yet and there are no details on a price, but as the LG and Samsung offerings appeared on Google Play in the UK at the same time as the US rollout we’re expecting the same to happen with the Moto 360. LG’s G Watch costs £159 while the Samsung Gear Live is priced at £169. Previews of the Moto 360 suggests it’s quite a premium product on the outside, so could we see this device creep up a bit further?
